Short version: your progress stays on your phone, we have no servers, ads are provided by Google AdMob, and Google Play Games cloud save is optional.
Overview
Wood Lock ("the app", "we", "us") is a single-player puzzle game made by Code Stack Studio. This policy explains what information is used when you play, why, and the choices you have. The app does not require an account and never asks for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or precise location.
Data stored on your device
Your game progress is saved on your device: completed levels, stars, best moves and times, daily puzzle results, statistics, coins, shop items, goals and settings (sound, music, haptics, theme, language and reminders). Your progress itself is not uploaded to our servers (see Analytics below for the usage data that is).
You can delete it at any time by uninstalling the app, or partly with Settings → Reset progress (clears levels, stars, statistics and saved games).
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app is free and shows ads provided by Google AdMob. To show, measure and protect ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process:
- your device's advertising ID and app set ID;
- your IP address, which may be used to estimate your approximate location (country or city);
- ad interactions (views and taps), device and app information, and diagnostics.
This data is used for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention, and is handled by Google under the Google Privacy Policy. Learn more at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Ads are never shown while you are solving a puzzle: banners appear only on menu screens and full-screen ads only between levels. Rewarded videos are always optional.
Consent and your ad choices
Where required by law (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), the app asks for your consent before personalised ads are shown, using Google's User Messaging Platform. You can change your choice at any time from Settings → Privacy & ad choices when that option is available.
On Android you can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads).
Google Play Games (optional)
If you choose to sign in with Google Play Games (Settings → Cloud save), a copy of your game progress (levels, stars, statistics, coins, shop items, goals, season and event progress, and puzzles you made in the Workshop) and your leaderboard scores are stored in your Google Play Games account so you can continue on another device and compare scores. Google also processes your Play Games player ID and profile for this.
This is handled by Google under the Google Privacy Policy; we do not receive this data. Sign-in is optional and the game works fully without it. You can delete your Play Games data from the Google Play Games app settings or your Google account.
Notifications
If you turn on the daily reminder, the app schedules a local notification on your device. No data is sent anywhere to do this, and you can turn it off in Settings or in your phone's notification settings.
We may also send occasional news, events and offers through Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google). For this the app registers a random push token and joins general topics (all players and your app language); no personal information is used. Turn off News & events in Settings, or block notifications in your phone settings, to stop them.
Sharing your results and puzzles
When you tap Share, the app creates an image or an animated GIF of your result, or a text code for a puzzle you made in the Workshop, and passes it to your device's share sheet. Nothing is shared unless you choose an app or contact to share it with.
When you tap Import code in the Workshop, the app reads your clipboard once to fill in a copied puzzle code. The text stays on your device.
Purchases
Items in the in-game shop are bought with in-game coins only. The app does not currently offer real-money purchases. If we add them in the future (for example to remove ads), payments will be processed by Google Play and we will update this policy.
Analytics, crash reports and performance
To understand how the game is played and to fix problems, the app uses Google Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring. They collect:
- usage events — for example levels started and solved, hints and undos used, screens viewed, ads watched, shop items chosen and settings changed;
- crash and error reports and app performance timings;
- device information such as model, Android version, language and an app instance ID.
None of this includes your name, email, contacts or precise location, and it is not used to identify you. The data is processed by Google on our behalf under the Firebase privacy terms and kept for up to 14 months (analytics) or 90 days (crash reports).
Children's privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will help remove it.
Data retention and security
Game data on your device is kept until you delete it or uninstall the app. Data processed by Google (ads, Play Games, Firebase) is retained according to Google's policies and the periods above. Communication between the app and Google services is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). We never sell personal information.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data and to withdraw consent. Because we do not store personal data ourselves, most requests are handled directly by the controls described above or by Google. You can always contact us for help.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example when features change. The new version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date, and important changes will be highlighted in the app or on the store listing.
